| WILLIAM WELDON, J&J CEO, 2002 - Present Biography: William C. Weldon is Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Johnson & Johnson, the world's most comprehensive and broadly based health care products company.
Weldon assumed his current responsibilities in April, 2002. Previously Weldon served as Worldwide Chairman, Pharmaceuticals Group, and a Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors. He was elected to the Board in February, 2001.
Weldon joined Johnson & Johnson in 1971 in the sales and marketing department of its McNeil Pharmaceutical subsidiary. In 1982 he was named manager, ICOM Regional Development Center in Southeast Asia. Weldon was appointed executive vice president and managing director of Korea McNeil, Ltd., in 1984 and managing director of Ortho-Cilag Pharmaceutical, Ltd., in the U.K. in 1986. In 1989, he was named vice president of sales and marketing at Janssen Pharmaceutica in the U.S., and in 1992 he was appointed president of Ethicon Endo-Surgery.
In 1995 Weldon was named a company group chairman of Johnson & Johnson and Worldwide Franchise Chairman of Ethicon Endo-Surgery, the Johnson & Johnson affiliate that develops new procedures for minimally-invasive surgery and designs related products. In 1998 Weldon was promoted to the Executive Committee and named Worldwide Chairman, Pharmaceuticals Group.
Among his outside activities, Weldon is a member of the Board of Directors of JPMorgan Chase & Co. He is also Chairman of the CEO Roundtable on Cancer, Vice Chair of The Business Council and a member of The Sullivan Commission on Diversity in the Health Professions Workforce. Weldon also serves on the Liberty Science Center Chairman's Advisory Council and as a member of the Board of Trustees for Quinnipiac University. He previously served as Chairman of the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA).
Weldon was born in Brooklyn, NY, and is a graduate of Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He and his wife have two children and one grandson. In June 2008 I posted, on a now defunct blog, evidence related to the Tylenol murders. I also sent an email to J&J requesting contact information for the FBI agent currently assigned to the case. When J&J failed to reply, I posted the following on my blog: On Friday, June 13, 2008, I sent an email to Johnson & Johnson stating that I had information that may lead to the capture and conviction of the Tylenol killers. On Wednesday, June 18, 2008, I received the following canned reply. Thank you for contacting Johnson & Johnson. It is always important to hear from our customers and we appreciate the time you have taken to contact us. We have forwarded your message to the appropriate Department. They will contact you directly if interested. Again, thank you for your interest in Johnson & Johnson. 0128736A
After posting information about the Tylenol murders that had never been published, I received 55 visits to my blog from at least half a dozen IP addresses at J&J headquarters in New Brunswick, NJ. Fourteen of the visits, shown below, lasted at least two hours.

I asked the question: "Why is it that J&J is able to spend so much time on my web-site, but they can’t take a couple of minutes to give me contact information for the federal agent in charge of the never closed 1982 and 1986 Tylenol murders investigations?"
Two hours after publishing the above post, I received the following email from Johnson & Johnson: “Thank you for reaching out to us with this information. As you may know, this case has never been resolved, and since it is not a closed case, we suggest you contact the law enforcement agency that has been involved with this investigation over the years directly. You can call the Newark Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation at ###-###-####. Also, with your permission, we will forward your contact information and e-mail directly to the agency and ask that they contact you for further information.”
The reply came from an anonymous media relations email address; I guess no J&J employee wants to be associated with J&J’s abysmal handling of the Tylenol tampering. Or, maybe no one from J&J wants to associate with me. Subsequently, the FBI contacted me. Shortly thereafter, a new Tylenol task force was formed in Chicago and grand juries were convened in Cook and DuPage counties to hear evidence about the Tylenol murders. William C.
